How to Discover a Hobby You’ll Love

Have you made time for a hobby in your life? How would you fill your time if you had no other commitments?

If you don’t have a hobby and you don’t know how you would fill your time without your job, and family you might be in danger of losing your identity.

That’s why having a hobby is so important to your well-being, and the topic for my post this week.

Maybe you’re saying to yourself right about now, oh come on; I just don’t have time for a hobby. Really! My life is too busy.

Well take a look at how having a hobby can enhance your life.

  • You’re taking time for yourself
  • You’re doing something for your own pleasure
  • A great hobby lets you lose track of time in the joy of the moment
  • It helps you temporarily forget other aspects of your life that might be problematic, reducing stress
  • Hobbies can offer a tremendous sense of well-being and confidence

If you don’t have any ideas about what interests to pursue, finish these 2 statements, and see what you come up with.

1)      If I could do anything in the world I would….

2)      I can’t let a week go by without…

What did you discover? Remember there are as many hobbies and interests as there are individuals. So let your imagination go wild.

If you are still at a loss try one of the following.

1)      Pay a visit to a bookstore. Browse in different categories of books. Pay attention to what topics really excite you.

2)      Generate a list of possible hobbies. Eliminate the impractical ones on the list, like studying alligators in the Amazon, for example. Now you should have a short list. Pick one and get started. You might need to experiment a bit, however what’s important is to take that time for you!

Now whatever can you picture yourself doing as a hobby, go out there and make it real!
